FAQ
What kind of secondary dressing should I use with Zorflex?
This will depend on the level of exudate from the wound. For example, if the wound is exudating heavily, the exudate will pass through the Zorflex. In this case a foam or superabsorber dressing would be appropriate.
Will Zorflex make the wound/skin black?
Zorflex is black because it is 100% activated carbon. It is not a dye that will come out of the dressing, so it will not turn the wound black. If fibres come out of the dressing, they can be easily seen in the wound bed as they will remain black, and so can be flushed or picked out.
How long can I leave Zorflex on the wound?
Zorflex can be left on the wound for up to 7 days. If the secondary dressing gets saturated with exudate before that, the secondary dressing can be changed without removing Zorflex and disturbing the wound bed if preferred.
Can Zorflex be cut to shape?
Yes, Zorflex and Zorflex LA can be cut to shape if required. It is also okay to overlap the peri-wound area as Zorflex will help to reduce any inflammation there. However, Zorflex Plus and Zorflex Plus LA should not be cut to size so as to ensure there is no leakage from the dressing.
Does Zorflex have an active ingredient?
Zorflex’s action is purely physical and draws microbes and odour molecules to the surface of the dressing and binds them there. Nothing is transmitted into the wound, so it is very safe and cannot be subject to antimicrobial resistance.
